Add Recent Comments Widget In Blogger

This Recent Comment Widget for Blogger displays the latest comments in your blog's sidebar. This widget will show the snippet of the last comment together with the post title name where your reader has made a comment. If you have an advance knowledge in blogger you can also put this sidebar anywhere in your blog not just in your sidebar. When you add this recent comment widget in your blogger blogspot and you're using a threaded commenting system that allow the reader to reply in a comment. The reply will consider as a new comment by the widget.

Did you know that this widget can increase your blog's page view? Because I experienced it after I used it in this blog, my page view were increased like a magic, the old post has now a page view. The only reason I can see why my page views was increased is because the widget displays my old post that has a comment in the sidebar, and the readers of this blog click the article that has a comment.

Features Included in this Widget
  • Set the total number of comments to be display.
  • Change the number of words per comments to show.
  • Show or Hide the date on which the comment has been published.
  • Show or Hide the post title on which the comment has been made.

This gadget is styled with CSS and coded in JavaScript. It's very easy to install just follow my instruction below. Before you proceed remember that this widget will only work for the default blogger commenting system. This will NOT work for Facebook and Disqus commenting system.

How to Add Recent Comments Widget To Blogger
Step 1: Log in to your Blogger dashboard select your blog (if you have more than one blog) Go to LAYOUT and select the ADD GADGET link.

Step 2: From the pop-up window, select the HTML/JavaScript.

Step 3: Copy the code below and paste it inside the HTML/JavaScript box content area.

Step 4: Replace http://your-blog-name.blogspot.com with your own blogger URL address (Make sure that you don't have two forward slash // at the end of your URL Address, before feeds)

Step 5; Click the SAVE button and open your blog to see if the recent comments widget works on your blogger blog!

Add Recent Comments Widget Customization
ar a_rc = 5 >> Replace the "5" to change the number of comments that are being displayed.
var o_rc = 100 >> Change "100" to change more or less comment character summary.
var m_rc = false >> Change "false" to true in order to add the date on which the comment has been made.
var n_rc = true >> Change "true" to false if you want to hide the post title.
